Fusion online: node based compositing and motion graphics in the browser

The Fusion page is a compositing application inside the timeline. Build a node graph for the shot, keep the result live in the project and hand it back to the edit without a round trip, an export or a second version of the media.

  • Keying, paint, tracking, particles and 3D in one graph
  • Comps render in place, live on the timeline
  • Node graphs reopen with the project

Keying and roto

Keys, roto and cleanup that hold up on a moving shot

Start with a qualifier, refine with a matte, then let the tracker carry the shape. Fusion keeps the whole isolation chain visible as nodes instead of hiding it behind a single effect.

  • 3D keyer, delta keyer and matte finesse controls
  • Magic mask for people and objects, editable frame by frame
  • Point and planar tracking for shapes, paint and corners
  • Wire and rig removal with paint and clone tools
Motion graphics

Titles and graphics driven by keyframes and expressions

Text, shapes and mergers with a full keyframe editor, spline editor and expressions, so a lower third or a title sequence can be animated properly rather than approximated.

  • Text and 3D text nodes with per character animation
  • Follower and duplication tools for patterns and arrays
  • Spline and keyframe editors with easing and loop controls
  • Expressions for linking parameters across the graph
Particles and 3D

Particles, 3D sets and projection in the same page

Particle systems, 3D geometry, cameras, lights and projection mapping all live in the same node graph, which means a shot can be built and finished without leaving the project.

  • Particle systems with emitters, forces and collision controls
  • 3D workspace with cameras, lights, meshes and materials
  • Projection mapping and camera mapping for set extensions
  • Volume masks and depth tools for atmospheric work

Comps stay live in the edit

Fusion renders in the context of the timeline, so a comp that takes twenty nodes is just another clip on the track. Change the cut and the comp follows.

  • No render and re import step between Fusion and the edit
  • Templates for recurring effects and titles
  • Render cache keeps heavy graphs responsive
  • The same graph structure carries into the desktop studio
Help

Frequently asked questions

Fusion page questions that come up before a first render.

Is Fusion included in every plan?

The Starter plan focuses on the Cut, Edit and Colour pages. Fusion compositing, the magic mask and the 3D workspace are part of the Pro and Studio plans.

Can I bring a comp from the desktop studio?

Node graphs use the same structure and node names, so a comp built on this page follows the project between the browser and the desktop studio.

Do I need a powerful machine to composite in the browser?

The browser handles the interface and the viewer. Heavy renders are queued on the studio, so a laptop with hardware acceleration runs the same graphs as a workstation.

Can I reuse a title or effect across a series?

Yes. Save a node graph as a template and drop it on any clip in any project, then override the text or the inputs it exposes.

Where this fits in the workflow

The studio is one project with several pages. These are the pages that usually come before and after this one.

Ready when you are

Build the shot, keep the timeline

Open the studio and send any clip to Fusion. The graph opens with the media already loaded and renders back in place.
